Commemorating World AIDS Day
Every year, on 1 December, the world commemorates World AIDS Day. People around the world unite to show support for people living with and affected by HIV and to remember those who lost their lives to AIDS.
The Workforce group of companies is a leading, trusted provider of employment, training, healthcare, wellness, and financial and lifestyle services to individuals and their employers – As such we are committed to wellness.
We must appreciate that as a society we have come a long way in dealing with the ramifications of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. However, our work is far from finished. Putting people first and allowing our efforts to eliminate stigma and discrimination to be guided by human rights.
It has been widely documented that people who are in disadvantaged situations because of their, gender, race socioeconomic status, and sexual orientation are unequally vulnerable to HIV/AIDS.
The hope is that a human rights approach will provide everywhere with sustainable results for health and if there is one thing, we have learned from the pandemic is that we all need and deserve quality healthcare.
‘’COVID-19 has demonstrated that, during a pandemic, no one is safe until everyone is safe.’’
– WHO Director Tedros Ghebreyesus
For Global solidarity and shared responsibility to succeeds there needs to be a joined effort by the Government, donors, faith leaders, civil society, and every one of us. We can all make a difference by not participating in discrimination against those living with or those who have been affected by HIV/AIDS.
