WORKFORCE HOLDINGS ACQUIRES MEDICALL GROUP

Workforce Holdings Limited (“Workforce”) (JSE: WKF), has acquired the Medicall group of companies, consisting of XPeria Financial Services (“XPeria”)  Medicall Healthcare Network Providers (“MHNP”) and Kalydoscope for an undisclosed sum.

The Medicall group will form part of the Workforce Financial Services cluster. These acquisitions will make a significant impact on our occupational/primary healthcare services and medical health insurance offerings, helping us better serve our clients while further diversifying our extensive human capital solutions.

XPeria is a health insurance underwriting management company that offers health insurance policies demarcated by the Council of Medical Schemes. MHNP consists of approximately 12 000 medical service providers including doctors, dentists, optometrists, and specialists, who are currently contracted to the network. Kalydoscope’s software enables the effective tracking of and disbursement of claims funds to the MHNP contracted network, designed to mitigate risk and to protect the solvency of the administrated funds.

This acquisition will give the Workforce Group an enhanced risk and cost management mechanism that will assist both the Healthcare and Financial Services clusters. The acquisition also allows for and supports expanded product and service offerings.

Future commercial value will also be unlocked by accessing and creating BPO and Service lines to existing and new insurers and other related markets. The proprietary Kalydoscope software allows improved risk management with a near real time view on claims and benefit utilisation.

The founding members and shareholders of the Medicall group, Michael Muller and Bridgette Rayne, will remain with the group and we look forward to working with them and benefitting from their extensive experience and skills, fostering future growth and finding long lasting success within the Workforce Financial Services and Healthcare clusters.

Commenting on the rationale for the acquisition Ronny Katz, CEO of Workforce Holdings, adds, “Medicall offers the perfect opportunity for Workforce to further diversify our offerings and strengthen established business. They have closely aligned interests with our group when it comes to providing quality yet affordable health insurance products. The need for reliable healthcare support at an affordable rate is ever-growing in South Africa.”
